"Calm Down Kits: Tools for Supporting Young Children in Managing Strong Emotions" - With disruptions to our normal routines, and social distancing guidelines at this challenging time, children might be feeling anxious or scared. Just like adults, in scary situations, children’s fear or anxiety may manifest into challenging behavior (e.g., temper tantrums, withdrawing, seeking comfort or attention). Children’s ability to manage strong emotions is foundational to the development of self-regulation skills, building resiliency, and nurturing mental health and well-being. As teachers and parents, we can help provide children with the competencies and skills to handle their emotions in appropriate ways. This webinar will provide participants with practical strategies focusing on teaching students 0-8 years of age the skills necessary to manage their strong emotions. Resources from the National Center on Pyramid Model Innovations will be shared.
