I’d like to personally welcome you to region five.
The Santa Clara County Office of Education serves as the region’s California PBIS Technical Assistance Center, housing multiple programs in our Professional Learning and Instructional Support Division– including Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports.
As members of the Core Leadership Team, Alexandria and I represent the needs of Santa Clara County and all communities housed within region five when it comes to high-quality implementation.
I look forward to connecting with you soon as we continue to create equitable environments in California schools.
Originally hailing from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she brings over thirty-four years of experience in education. Her extensive career includes nine years as a Physics and Calculus teacher, and roles as a Principal across elementary, middle, and high school levels. She has also served as an Assistant Superintendent focusing on Curriculum, Instruction, & Assessment, and has ten years of experience as a Superintendent.
For the past eight years, she has supported school districts in the San Diego area as both a Superintendent and Principal. Adapting to the San Jose area, she even had to invest in a winter coat! Currently, she holds the position of Director of Continuous Improvement and Accountability with SCCOE.
Her educational philosophy centers on the belief that every child has the potential to be great. She is passionate about nurturing and supporting school environments that ignite the genius in every student. She is committed to ensuring every child experiences an extraordinary education that prepares them for the future. With a love for engineering, science, technology, and math, and expertise in Curriculum and Instruction, she naturally gravitates towards innovative and engaging learning opportunities for students.
She cherishes interacting with children and engaging with families, always striving to make them feel comfortable and safe. Her vision is to collaboratively build a phenomenal future and redefine American education.
is the Manager of the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports Technical Assistance Center (PBIS TAC). She has worked with Santa Clara County Office of Education for four years, working alongside educators in creating inclusive systems of support. Prior to joining the SCCOE team, Alex worked at the Nevada Department of Education, Office of Student and School Supports, where she worked with district and school site leaders in building sustainable systems of equity for Nevadans. Her passion for supporting adults in creating the best outcomes for students was ignited in leading the statewide Leadership Network initiative. Her Top 5 Gallup Strengths are Intellection, Input, Connectedness, Positivity and Learner. She enjoys leveraging her Intellection, and Input, by learning all she can about teams, school sites, and districts and their contexts to then utilize her Connectedness strength to help align systems and processes in the best service of students, staff, and families. She is driven by her passion for supporting educators in working toward building efficient and effective systems to increase positive school climate. Alex graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno (go pack!). She is a SWIS Facilitator for PBIS Applications and is also a certified trainer in the RISE Curriculum through the Los Angeles LGBT Center.
